Almost 2 years ago, I discovered Brown Bag Party. I was a stay at home mom with no income of my own. I was enjoying being home with my two children and was not really looking for anything. When an acquaintance told me about the company, I just thought "OK another romance party".

A while back I learned about a workout routine called Flirty Girl Fitness.

Well, I finally decided to give it a try! I started out with the
Preview 2 Disk DVD set.

This set came with Booty Beat & Chair Dancing.

Wow! What a great, fun time! I love the Booty Beat DVD. It does not even feel like a work out. If you love to dance, you will love this! You are working out while dancing! This dvd teaches you an actual dance routine.

I started on the Chair Dancing dvd a little but decided that the chair I had was not appropriate. I will be getting back to that dvd!

So, with the preview pack, you receive an additional 2 pack of dvds every other month. Fun, Fun!
I received my second set yesterday! Whoot!

This set included the Ultimate Upper Body dvd & Chair Dance: Tone & Tease. Since I still don't have an appropriate chair, I started right off with the Ultimate Upper Body dvd. WOW!
What a great workout! This workout will really get your heart pumping and your muscles working! After day one, I didn't realize just how much it worked me until I started the work out on day two, today!

I am sore! It must be working because I can REALLY feel it!

I am excited to keep working with this workout routine and can not wait to see what comes next!

11 Day Check-In

Today is day 11 of the 90 day challenge. As I was checking in at Momstoolbox, I realized that I am very proud of myself for taking this challenge and sticking with it.

I am not only learning about God and his word but, this experience is opening up more learning opportunities for my daughters. My 3 year old sees me reading the Bible and wants to read hers as well. We have started reading the stories in her children's Bible before she goes to bed at night.

Although I have gotten behind at times in my reading, I want to keep going and get caught back up. Right now I am where I am supposed to be!

I have found that for me it is easiest to read and really concentrate at night when my girls are in the bed. So, I will complete today's reading tonight when the little ones are asleep. I look forward to learn more from this challenge!

As I posted in my last blog, I am taking part in the Cover to Cover in 90 days challenge with Amy at Mom's Toolbox. That is I am going to read the entire Bible, cover to cover in only 90 days! The challenge started January 1st. So we are already on day 5. This is awesome! I never thought that I could read the entire Bible! Although I didn't receive my program kit until January 2nd, I am doing well with the readings! I did get a little behind but as of now I am caught up!

At this point, I have already read Genesis, the first book in the Bible! WOW!!!

I am so excited to keep up with this program and challenge! I will complete the reading and I will learn more about the word of God! I can't wait to share my knowledge with my girls!

That's right! I am going to read the Bible in 90 days! There is a program that I am joining up with to do just this. Over at Mom's Toolbox, there is a large number of people signing up to follow the program to read the Bible in just 90 days!

I recently was lucky enough to win my own copy of the Bible and Participants Guide for the program. Although I have read parts of the Bible, I have never read it in its entirety. I really want to accomplish this. I am trying to raise my girls to follow Christ and I think that by knowing his word, I will be better able to do this.

Day 3 Wii Fit Routine

Woohoo! Day 3 of my workout routine and I am still loving it! I got a later start on this today. Ended up with a bad migraine last night that carried over a little this morning.

I am dedicated to finally lose this weight I have been wanting to lose so I decided to go back to the low calorie diet that I did before I got preggo w/ Savanah, baby #1. I was successful with that, lost 30lbs without working out! So I am hoping since now I am working out that I will be even more successful!

So anyway, here is my routine for today:

My total workout time ended up being 31 minutes. I think I missed a minute on the balance game. But I am very happy with that as a start! Thirty-one minutes is great for me, especially since I don't normally workout or exercise!

After today's workout I feel great! I am excited to do this again tomorrow. I think with an actual routine to go by and someone to keep me motivated, thanks Debbi, I will keep this up and be able to reach my weight loss goals!

Vacation Planning

It is the time of year when everyone is planning their vacations. It is supposed to be an exciting time and a relaxing time. My husband and I bought a time share the year after we were married. We knew that we liked to go on vacations and thought that it would be nice to go different places and not have to worry about coming up with money for rooms and such all at one time.

This should be a great way to vacation, right? Well, so far for us, 5 years, it has been nothing but a headache. Every year that we have used our timeshare to book our vacation we have had some sort of problem. Either the reservation was not there, it was the wrong reservation, or most recently, we can't get a room! We have this "agent" that is supposed to be there to book our vacations for us so we don't have to deal with all that. Well, this year we relied on her to book our room. When we kept getting the run around, I called her. I finally got a response back that we should go ahead and book our own room before it was too late. Well, guess what, it was already too late!

I am really starting to dislike this whole timeshare idea more and more! What is the point of having it if you can't successfully use it?

A Weekend of Celebration and Thanks!

July 4th, Independence Day, brings lots of ways to celebrate and give thanks to all those heroes out there that are risking their lives and have risked their lives for us to have our freedom. From cookouts with friends and family to fireworks displays to parades, there are numerous ways you can celebrate.

My family started our festivities this weekend with our local fireworks festival Friday night. This was the first time our girls were big enough to know what was going on. This year they had the moon bounces for the kids and lots of other activities for the children and adults alike. My girls loved the moon bounce slides with daddy.

After this fun, it was time for the fireworks! Yay!

My 3 year old, Savanah was not too happy with the loud noise the fireworks made.

My 2 year old, Sarah, on the other hand loved them and wanted to see more.

Here are a few pictures that I took of the fireworks:

Saturday, the 4th, was spent with family for the most part with a cookout with friends to wrap up the day. What a great way to celebrate, with friends. We attended a cookout with lots of activities for the kids, even the "big kids" had a good time. There was a pool, sidewalk chalk for artwork, water slide and the biggest hit of all was a water balloon fight, this is where the "big" kids came into the fun. We wrapped up the night with a little fireworks display at the cookout. Once again Savanah didn't like them but Sarah loved it!

Thanks to all of the soldiers out there that have risked their lives and those that are risking their lives today! Also a huge thanks to their families for giving them the support to do what they do! God Bless you all and God Bless America!

Review of A Perfect Party by Cody

Saturday, June 27th, was our first Sassy Affair with the Sassy Sisters In Sales. One of our sisters, Kattia Gordon, is a rep for A Perfect Party by Cody. During Kattia's time slot her prize for her game was two of the treat/craft bags offered on her site. I won the prize so I took Kattia's advice and got two of the Beach Babe Treat bags.

Well, much to my surprise, the treat bags arrived yesterday, Thursday, July 2nd. I thought that was pretty fast shipping!

I sat my girls down today to let them open their surprise! I was very impressed with how the treat bags were packaged. When I opened up the cardboard shipping box, I found a nice memory box tied up with a pretty purple ribbon.

My daughters, Savanah age 3 and Sarah age 2, could not wait to get into this big box to see what their surprise was. I let them continue on to open the box. As they untied that ribbon and opened the top of the box they saw a tattoo and a candy stick. Savanah said, "Aww...Mommy look!"

So, on through this pretty purple tissue paper my girls got to their "surprise". They pulled out their bags and were excited to see what all was in them. As I began to pull everything out of the treat bags, we found: sunglasses, flip flops, a visor, candy necklace, small beach ball, and decorative foam pieces. My girls immediately put on the sunglasses.

I sat the girls in separate chairs and showed them how to pull the backs off the stickers to decorate their visors. They really enjoyed doing this. Both girls made their hats all by themselves. They put them on and are still wearing them. There were decorations for the flip flops but we didn't' get that far.

As you can see by the pictures, neither girl took off their sunglasses to decorate their hat. Once the hats were finished they put them on and then had to put on the necklace and blow up their beach balls. Now they are ready to go to the beach!

A Day to Celebrate!

Sunday is my 6th wedding anniversary.

I can not believe that it has been six years already.

I guess time flies when you’re having fun, lol.

For our anniversary my husband is taking me out for the night.

We are going out on Saturday night, since he has to work on Monday and I have the kiddos.

I am not sure where we are going or what we are going to do, but I am excited! It’s been a while since we have went out just the two of us.

I think that we will probably go out of town for the night. Its kind of crazy to pay for a hotel room when you have a house but, if we are at home SOMEONE is going to call or stop by. The most exciting part of this entire “date” is that it was my hubby’s idea!

Here’s to all the years of happiness and many more to come!

Budgeting Tips

I have been married for six years now and still have not quite got budgeting down to a tee. Our money is sometimes short or tight, however you want to look at it. We sometimes are stretching every penny. We are a family of four on mainly one income. After the birth of our second child we decided that it was better for us for me to stay at home with our children. So we went to one income.

I have attempted, not whole heartily might I add, to work out a budget for my family to stick to. I was given a spreadsheet to fill out with all of our expenses and incomes. I couldn't even fill out the slots. So I am wondering what kinds of tips my wonderful readers have to offer.

If you have a great plan that works for you please comment with your suggestions. I really do appreciate any suggestions.

BootCamp Update

If you read my post about my desire to attend BootCamp for Brown Bag Party, I am updating that now.

I wanted to let you all know that I have purchased my ticket, YAY!!!!!

I will be going to Virginia to attend Boot Camp in September. I am excited but nervous at the same time! I can not wait to actually get to meet my up line as well as other BBP reps. However, I am nervous about leaving my girls for two days!:(

Anthony "Tony" White Benefit Update

I would just like to take a few minutes to say that the Anthony "Tony" White Benefit was a huge success! We had a great time and the community really showed support for Tony! If you are not sure what I am talking about please view the website that I set up for the benefit here.

Tony was able to attend the benefit in his honor Saturday, what a blessing from above! Tony really seemed to enjoy himself. There was music, dancing, great food, and a huge amount of community support!

We have somewhat estimated that there were around 600 people in attendance. We, the benefit organizers, are very pleased and appreciative of how well this turned out!

I hope to have photos to share soon so I will update the website with a link to the pictures as soon as it is available! If you have not signed the guestbook on the website, we would love to share more encouraging words with Tony to show the support he has from around, not only our community, but also the United States!

I Wanna Go To BootCamp!!!

Okay, so I don't want to go to military Boot Camp, I wouldn't survive! I want to go to Brown Bag Boot Camp!

As you all probably know by now I am a romance consultant with Brown Bag Party. Every year BBP holds a boot camp for consultants. This is a weekend of intensive training, getting to know other consultants, laughing, dancing, and a whole lot of fun!

The details for this year's boot camp were announced yesterday. I want to go! Woo Hoo! I am so excited about this adventure. I am looking forward to all of the training and getting to meet my sponsor along with all of the other consultants who offer support in my business on a daily basis.

Boot Camp is taking place this year in Virginia!!! Yay, I can drive there and save on airfare. We are having camp at the beautiful Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing. Check out some of the pictures from their site.

Check out that zip line, wow! There is going to be an adventure on the zip line for those that go to Boot camp on Thursday. I would love to do that however, I think I am going to go down on Friday. This will be the first time that I have left my girls for more than one night. Even when I have left them overnight I get them back the next morning. I will have to suck it up and handle this. I REALLY want to do this for my business, I know it will help me a LOT!

I am really looking forward to going to boot camp. I know I will come away with so much knowledge from all of the ladies that have been doing this for years!

My family and I went to Sesame Street Live, Elmo Makes Music on Sunday. A HUGE thanks to Lowe's Foods for the tickets.

We all had a great time! My girls were so entertained the entire time. Every time that Elmo would go off stage my 2 year old would say, "Elmo, back". She loves Elmo!

I would offer some pictures of our trip however, I forgot my camera! I can not believe that I forgot to take my camera. If you know me, you know that is not like me. I was so mad at myself.

So, not having pictures of my own to share I resorted to pictures from the Internet. If you have little ones and have the opportunity, I highly recommend Sesame Street Live!

Meet My Family

This post is a little different than what I normally post. I have been inspired by my friend, Andrea Baker, to introduce everyone to my family. Andrea posted a blog including her family, so I am going to do the same!

This is my family, The Stricklands.

This is my wonderful husband, Keith. We have been together 10 years, next month and married for 6 years, June 28th. Woo Hoo! I can not believe it has been 10 years! I grew up with Keith and his brother, which is actually my age. Keith is 4 years older than me. We started dating after running into each other down at Myrtle Beach during my senior trip. Been together every since.

On January 28th, 2006, Keith and I had our first child. A beautiful little girl, Savanah Marie. She was the best surprise either of us had ever had!
This is Savanah at age 3, well, just before.

Just 15 sort months after having Savanah, Keith and I had our 2nd child. Another beautiful little girl, Sarah Elizabeth, born May 6, 2007.

Everyone jokes about her birth date b/c it is so easy to remember: 5-6-07 and she weighed 8lbs 9oz. (5,6,7,8,9)

This is my baby girl on her at her 2nd birthday party.

And last but not least, lol, this is me.

Wedding Season

The wedding season is upon us. What a wonderful time to share with a couple. They spends months planning this special day so that it is perfect in every way. So many decisions to be made. So many details to iron out.

From the wedding dress to the rings, there are some big choices to make. Where the big event will take place, who will participate, what flowers you will carry, where the reception will be held, the menu for the reception, what photographer you will use. WOW! So much to decide on!

Why am I talking about weddings, you may ask? Well, my little brother is getting married in just two short weeks. They have been planning their wedding for months now! It finally seems as though they have it all together, just the last minute little things. I can not wait to see how this entire event comes together. The brides dress is beautiful, bridesmaids dresses as well. The cake has been designed and ordered, photographer picked, honeymoon planned, all is underway.

This is an exciting time of the year because it is the most popular time for weddings. I love to see all the brides in the dress shop trying on the gowns, looking for the perfect one. The look on their face when they know they have it! This reminds me of when it was me standing there gazing into that mirror. What an amazing time in a couple's life!

If you have been following my blog for a while then you may remember hearing about JoAnn previously. JoAnn has been in the Sassy Sisters spotlight before (click here).

Now it is her turn back in the spotlight! JoAnn is one talented and busy woman! She works a full time JOB while also running two of her own businesses as well as a business as a rep for Avon. Whew, I don't know how she finds the time!

In case you are new to my blog and did not see the greatness of JoAnn's creativity before, let me tell you a little about her. She is the owner and artist behind Retro Recycled Jewelry. She takes junk and makes it into fun and funky jewelry. I have purchased some of her rings and they are awesome. Her jewelry spans beyond rings though, she also makes earrings and necklaces.

JoAnn's creativity does not stop there. She is also the artist and owner behind Knitilicious Knits. Jewelry and knitting, did I mention that she is talented? She knits all sorts of things, from scarves to purses to hats to gloves. Here are a few pictures of her work.

As I mentioned above, JoAnn not only has these two businesses, but she also reps for Avon as well as works a full time job. JoAnn is an amazing lady and a valued part of the Sassy Sisters group.

Anthony "Tony" White Benefit

As many of you have heard me talk about, I am helping put together a benefit for Anthony "Tony" White of Graham/Eli Whitney, NC. Tony was in a bad wreck back in August 2008. If you want to read about his accident click here and here for the news articles.

Tony is a great man and always there to help anyone that needs it. Since his wreck in August, Tony has been in the burn center at the University of Chapel Hill Hospital. Once released from the burn center, Tony will be moved to rehabilitation.

We, myself and two friends, are organizing this benefit to show Tony that we all miss him and are praying for him. The community is really coming together to make this benefit huge! We are throwing a huge party including children's activities, DJ, BBQ/Hot Dog supper, raffles and silent auction. We are still in the process of collecting donations to use for the raffle and silent auction. I know that most of you do not know Tony and do not even live in NC for that matter, but I am thankful that you all are offering help.

The website has a guestbook for everyone to sign with messages and well wishes to Tony. As we start to build more signatures we will print the messages and send to Tony in the hospital. We are working closely with his family to make this a huge success.

I have been trying to stay busy, well, not really trying it just seems to be that way! LOL! I had two parties this weekend, had a meeting for the benefit I am helping put on, and did my grocery shopping for the week! I was already exhausted then today I feel terrible!

I have been working to get my house straightened up. I have had several calls and emails to book parties! I like having the problem of having to say, "One moment please, I have to check my calendar!" I love it!

So, I feel like crap but my business is picking up! Woo hoo!!!! Have several shows to close out by the end of the month! Working towards being a winner in the contest this month!
